About Bitwise Agronomy

What does Bitwise Agronomy do?

Bitwise Agronomy builds AI-powered yield forecasting tools for commercial berry growers. Our flagship product, GreenView AI, improves forecast accuracy to around 90%+ so growers can make better decisions about labour, logistics, marketing, and crop management. We also produce GreenView Go, a companion mobile app for in-field counting and quality assessment.

Who founded Bitwise Agronomy?

Bitwise Agronomy was founded in 2019 by Fiona Turner (CEO) and Aran Elkington (CTO). Many of the Bitwise Agronomy team come from farming backgrounds, which means the technology is designed around the real problems growers face — not a developer’s idea of what farming looks like. Bitwise Agronomy is headquartered in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Read more on our About page.

Who uses GreenView AI?

GreenView AI is used by large-scale commercial berry growers and their agronomy and operational teams. Customers include some of the world’s largest berry producers — WB Chambers (UK), Angus Soft Fruits (UK), Berried in Tas / Perfection Berries (Australia), Driscoll’s, African Blue, and Camposol. The system is in use across Australia, the UK and Europe, South America, and North Africa.

How GreenView AI works

How does GreenView AI work?

GreenView AI works in four steps:

1. Capture. Mount a standard GoPro camera on farm machinery and capture side-on video footage of approximately 3% of your crop — while you’re already out doing tasks like mulching, mowing, or spraying.

2. Upload. Upload the footage to the GreenView AI platform.

3. AI analysis. Multiple waves of AI analysis count fruit at each phenological stage (flowers, immature fruit, white fruit, mature fruit) and apply 1000s of personalised ripening curves, growing degree days, weather data, and pick schedule data.

4. Forecast delivery. Within 12 hours, you receive interactive dashboards, heatmaps, and spreadsheets showing yield and harvest date forecasts for every farm, block, and microclimate — up to 12 weeks ahead.

How accurate are the forecasts?

GreenView AI achieves forecast accuracy of around 90% or better for our customers. The industry norm — using manual counting methods — can be as low as 50%. That 40-plus percentage point improvement translates directly into better decisions about picking crews, cold chain logistics, market commitments, and crop management. And ultimately translates to more profit.

What hardware do I need?

A standard GoPro Hero camera (Hero 11 or Hero 13 recommended) and a mount to attach it to your farm machinery. That’s it. No drones, no specialist sensors, no expensive proprietary hardware. You purchase and retain the GoPro — Bitwise Agronomy provides the software. A full hardware guide and recommended equipment list is available on request.

How long does it take to get results?

12 hours from footage upload to forecast delivery. Growers typically upload footage at the end of the day and receive their dashboards and spreadsheets the following morning.

What berry varieties does GreenView AI support?

GreenView AI currently supports 100+ berry varieties across strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. The system includes 1000s of ripening curves built from 35 growing seasons of global data. If you grow a variety not yet in our library, contact us — we add new varieties regularly.

Does every farm get a unique forecast?

Yes. Every farm, every block, and every microclimate gets its own personalised ripening curve. The AI accounts for variety, local weather, growing degree days, and historical data from your specific growing conditions — so your forecast is built on your farm’s actual data, not industry averages.

How much of my crop do I need to video?

Approximately 3% of your crop, or a targeted area of interest. The AI extrapolates from this sample to give you block-level and farm-level data. For large operations, this means you can cover hundreds of hectares in a fraction of the time manual counting would require.

How far ahead can GreenView AI forecast?

Up to 12 weeks ahead. You receive weekly rolling forecasts, which update each time you upload new footage. Most growers upload footage weekly or fortnightly throughout the growing season.

Practical questions

What do the dashboards show?

GreenView AI delivers:

  • Weekly yield forecasts by block and farm, for up to 12 weeks ahead
  • Harvest date forecasts per block
  • Heatmaps showing variability across the farm — so you can pinpoint rows with unexpected high or low yield and investigate quickly
  • Ripening curves for your specific variety
  • Phenological stage breakdowns — flower, immature, white, and mature fruit counts per block

Results are emailed directly to the grower, agronomist, and commercial team — whoever needs them. No specialist IT setup required.

Is my footage and farm data kept private?

Yes. Your footage and farm data are kept strictly confidential. We do not share your data with any third parties.

What does GreenView AI cost?

GreenView AI is a SaaS subscription starting from $17,500 AUD per year. This includes customer success support, multiple farms, and unlimited uploads and forecasts. Per-hectare pricing applies for larger operations. Contact us at info@bitwiseag.com or use the ‘Book a Demo’ link above to discuss pricing for your operation.

Is there a free trial or demo?

We offer a free demo to qualified berry growers. Book yours at the ‘Book a Demo’ link at the top of the page or email info@bitwiseag.com.

GreenView Go

What is GreenView Go?

GreenView Go is a companion iOS and Android app that works alongside GreenView AI. Growers use it in the field — pointing a smartphone camera at their crop — to get instant counts, growth trends, and quality control insights without waiting for footage to be processed. GreenView Go also includes ground-truthing features (to validate GreenView AI forecasts in the field) and strawberry quality assessment tools.

Do I need GreenView AI to use GreenView Go?

GreenView Go is designed as a companion tool to GreenView AI and works best as part of the full GreenView system. Contact us to discuss what works best for your operation.
